Identity Theft

Identity theft is becoming one of the most common forms of theft in the United States. This is accomplished by using personal information against you in various ways such as opening credit cards in your name and then charging purchases to your fake account. Many times, identity thieves can get all the information they need from your wallet.

We recommend that you do not keep you Social Security card in your wallet or have your Social Security number on your driver's license. We also recommend that you do not release any information on the Internet or over the phone. If you feel that you are a victim of identity theft, please notify your local law enforcement agency and the three major credit bureaus:
